This project explores the strategies used by American financial institutions to reach and involve immigrants in the mainstream financial environment with regards to having bank accounts, insurance, retirement savings and investments. These strategies are innovative because they work from a collaborative perspective with a range of stakeholders including groups concerned with immigrant rights, law and policy makers, the public safety sector, the financial sector, and immigrants themselves.Joint project of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago?s Center for the Study of Financial Access for Immigrants and The Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program.
